ePrescribe Updates – March 2026

What has changed with ePrescribe?

  • The prescriptions we display in the EMR will now be similar to ScriptSure’s Last Current view.
  • Summary and chart screen will now have the same logic to display prescriptions

This is a backend change to how we determine what to show in the EMR.

The previous logic was not clearly aligned with any ScriptSure view, and expired prescriptions were often still visible. Providers had to manually discontinue expired prescriptions to hide them from the EMR.

Some prescription data may need to re-sync with this update. Please open and close the ScriptSure window when viewing a chart or summary screen if any prescriptions are not displaying as expected.

What is displayed now?

The closest approximation of “medications the patient is currently taking” based on available data–the expiration date has not passed, and the status is Active. This is similar to the Last Current view in ScriptSure.

If you have a different default view set than “Last Current”, that will not affect the logic of what is displayed in the EMR.

The expiration date is a calculated value: the written date plus the duration set when prescribing. Prescriptions marked Chronic do not expire.

Within the EMR, our list will display prescriptions where

  • Expiration date has not passed
  • Status is Active

Active status is the default for any medication that has not been discontinued, canceled, or archived.

In ScriptSure, the Last Current view displays all prescriptions that are not expired, including Discontinued and Canceled prescriptions.

Note: if you can’t see the expiration date of a prescription in ScriptSure, use the zoom bar in the upper right.

Selecting the checkbox next to a medication in the EMR and clicking the blue D/C link will discontinue the medication, as will changing the status to Discontinued from the ScriptSure window. Cancelling or archiving the prescription will also hide it from the list displayed in the EMR.

If expected medications are not showing in the EMR

  • Open the ScriptSure window and look at Last Current. Verify that any expected prescription status is set to Active. If not, update the status to Active and close the window to refresh.
  • If you don't see any medications, change the view to Last Prescription. This view shows the last written prescription of any medication prescribed to the patient by your office. Review any medications that you believe should be current based on their written date, and verify the expiration date in ScriptSure.
